What is meditation – how to meditate

Meditation is a group of mind training techniques .You can use meditation to improve mental health and strength, and help improve physical health. Some of these methods are very simple, so you can read them in a book or article; others need the guidance of a qualified meditation teacher.

WHAT IS RELEXATION

Many techniques called meditation include the following components:

1. You are sitting or lying in a comfortable position.
2. You breathe regularly. You breathe deep enough to get enough oxygen. When you breathe, you relax your muscles so that your lungs relax, but without too much strain.
3. You stop thinking about everyday problems and issues.
4. You focus your thoughts on a particular sound, a certain word you repeat, a certain image, a certain mysterious idea or a certain feeling. All your attention should be focused on the object you are choosing to focus on.
5. When other external thoughts enter, simply stop this external thought, and return to the meditation object.

Different ways of meditating vary depending on the level of concentration, and how external thoughts are handled. In some cases, the goal is to focus the mind so much that no external thoughts occur at all.

In some techniques, focus is relaxed so that external thoughts are easily expressed. When these external thoughts are discovered, the person releases them and returns to pure meditation in a relaxed manner. The thoughts that come up, will usually be about things you forgot or pressed, and allows you to rediscover hidden memory objects. This recovery will have a psychotherapeutic effect.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HYPNOSIS AND MEDITATION

Hypnosis may have some of the same relaxing and psychotherapeutic effects as meditation. However, when you meditate, you control yourself; addictively allows another person or device to control you. And hypnosis will not affect training in concentration skills.

SIMPLE FORM OF REFLECTION

Here's an easy way to meditate:

1. Sit in a comfortable chair in a comfortable place.
2. Relax all your muscles as much as you can.
3. Stop thinking about anything, or at least try not to think about anything.
4. Breathe, relax all the muscles in your respirator.
5. Repeat the following for 10 - 20 minutes:
- Breathe deeply so that you feel you are getting enough oxygen.
- Exhale, relax your chest and diaphragm completely.
- Every time you breathe, think of the word “one” or another simple one inside you. You have to think of the word for a long time, and to feel it inside you, but you should try to avoid using your mouth or voice.
6. When it comes to external thoughts, just let go of these thoughts in a relaxed way, and keep focusing on the breath and the word you are repeating.

As you continue this meditation, you should feel a gradual relaxation of your mind and body, feel that you are breathing slowly and effectively, and that blood circulation throughout your body is becoming more efficient. You may also feel a growing sense of well-being in every meditation.

EFFECTS OF MEDITATION ON DISEASES

As with any type of training, meditation can be an exaggeration for fatigue and tiredness. So you should not meditate too long or be so preoccupied with feeling tired or empty.

Meditation can sometimes present problems for people suffering from mental illness, epilepsy, serious heart problems or neurological disorders. On the other hand, meditation may be helpful in treating some of these and other conditions.
People suffering from these conditions should evaluate the effects of different types of meditation on their type of health problems, before they begin to practice meditation, and be careful when choosing to start meditation. It may be wise to learn to meditate on the experience of an experienced teacher, psychologist, or health-care professional who uses meditation as a treatment for a specific illness.
