Eighty percent  of people buy the wrong digital camera

When I teach a new class to read digital photography, more than 80% of students come with a vendor-nominated camera.

Guess what? They soon learned that it was not the wrong thing to do. This can be a very expensive mistake. So the big questions are what is right for me and how do I know what is best for me.

One of the first things you want to know about the camera the seller is trying to sell you is the following - How long does it take the camera to turn on and ready to take a picture? In the consumer market this can range from 1 second to 5 seconds most straight up to 3 seconds. How long does the camera take to focus on the subject? (Not to take a photo) Most cameras take between 1 and 3 seconds at most in 1 second mark. How long does the camera take to take a picture after completely pushing the lock button? Also, most cameras take between 1 and 3 seconds this is called closing time. Now you can see taking a picture can take up to 5 seconds to open and up to another 3 seconds to focus and up to another 3 seconds just to take a picture.

On a cheap, but not really cheap camera it can take up to 9 seconds to take a picture on a locked camera. You may say yes but I will leave my camera on okay, but you may have a delay time of up to 3 seconds just to take a picture. Just think how annoying it will be now to buy your new digital camera that costs about $ 400 - $ 500 to find that you can't hold your child extinguishing the candles because your new camera during the critical candle extinguisher took 1 second to focus and 2 seconds to take a picture. What was the result? A child sitting in front of a cake with smoky black candles.

Can you set a white balance on your camera? What is a white balance?

About 65% of digital cameras do not have this adjustment, you should buy one that can be set by hand, not just one with a white balance that is not as good as it advertises.

Does your camera have different exposure modes?

Exposure modes are just as simple as where the camera takes easy reading? Cheap cameras do just reading everything that can greatly reduce a little to say. A good camera will have space, medium weight and a matrix meter system, allowing you to take good photos in any light condition.

When you buy a digital camera, buy it because the camera is not a video camera. One student showed me all the features his camera had and that is why it was so expensive the only thing I did wrong was taking still photos!

You can find out more with your new digital camera! you just have to set aside time to learn how to use it properly and how to take better photos remember that no one will ever want to look at a double standard photo!

If you want to take great pictures that will be in your family for years make a little effort with your new digital camera.
